We recently asked what people think about the value of the guidelines for people putting in grant applications and/or ethics applications…

Dr Genevieve Grant, Lecturer in Law and ethics committee member at Monash University responded:

“I commend VBIC for publishing these very useful guidelines. Incidental findings have the potential to create challenging ethical dilemmas for researchers and significant impacts for participants. Providing guidance on how to handle such findings will enhance the trust, responsibility and ethical equality that are central to the relationship between researchers and participants. The guidelines draw researchers’ attention to critical issues that should be considered from the early stages of planning projects through to communicating with participants about the results.”

Thank you Dr Grant for your supportive comments and for taking the time to provide feedback.

Any questions or comments regarding the guidelines can be directed to the VBIC Business and Support Manager, Dr Richard Huysmans.
