The Melbourne Neuroscience Institute (MNI) is offering a competitive Interdisciplinary Seed Funding Scheme for grants of $10-000 to $40,000 to support interdisciplinary research projects in the field of neuroscience and related disciplines.

The purpose of this funding is to provide short-term (up to one year) support for highly innovative seed projects that will lead to new collaborations and research teams, and which have significant potential for future funding by the NHMRC, ARC or commercial entities.

Funding will be available for use in 2016 and will be available in two tranches, 50% in January 2016 and the balance in June 2016 following receipt of an interim report.

The objectives of the MNI Interdisciplinary Seed Funding Scheme are:

• To fund highly innovative small- to medium-scale interdisciplinary research projects that show significant potential for future funding by granting bodies; and

• To catalyse the drawing together of academic staff from across disciplines to work on interdisciplinary problems consistent with the broad research objectives of the Melbourne Neuroscience Institute.

Applications open: 27 July 2015

More information is available on the MNI website.
